Belgium Troostenbergbos
Troostenbergbos is a charming and accessible nature reserve of about 54 hectares. It is part of the European protected Natura 2000 area called "Valleys of the Winge and the Motte with valley slopes."
The forest is named after the noble family de Troostemberg, who owned the estate until 1981. Since then, the forest has been managed by the Agency for Nature and Forests.
Troostenbergbos is a dry hillside forest with rich vegetation, including old beeches, sweet chestnuts, birches, and oaks. It is located near the Troostembergh Castle, the Gempemolen (a historic watermill), and the larger, wilder Walenbos.
