Chengqi Lou, also known as "King of Tolou", was built in the first year of Ming Chongchi (1628). After 81 years of construction, completed in the 48th year (1709) of Qingkangxi. The whole building is 73 meters in diameter, the corridor is 229.34 meters, consisting of four-ring concentric roundabout, the outer ring four-story according to the layout of gossip layout, 72 rooms, the heyday lived more than 800 people.
In July 2008, Fujian Tulou, including the Chengqi Lou, was included in the World Heritage List.
One of the most interesting things in the building is to see how difficult it was to achieve a perfectly circular structure. One can observe that the bigger the Tolou is, the larger the deviation from a perfectly circular shape (also partly due to environmental effects).
