Faroe Islands Syğradalur Road
Syðradalur is the southernmost village on Kalsoy, offering a quintessential Faroese landscape. The entrance road creates a compelling leading line through dramatic green slopes and steep coastal cliffs. It's a fantastic, lesser-visited perspective of Kalsoy compared to the famous Kallur Lighthouse, capturing the tranquil and rugged atmosphere of the island right as you arrive.
Photography Tips
Stand along the roadside using a mid-range or telephoto lens (50mm–135mm) to compress the road into the background mountains and emphasize scale. A low angle works well to capture the leading line of the asphalt.
Travel Information
Take the SAMKYPD ferry (Route 56) from Klaksvík harbour on Borðoy island to Syðradalur on Kalsoy. The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes. If you are taking a car, make sure to arrive early at the port as car capacity is very limited and spots fill up fast.
