Finland Colorful house in Porvoo
Just outside Porvoo's historic Old Town, Maarin Puisto offers beautiful views across the river to colorful, traditional Finnish wooden houses. Surrounded by trees and reeds, these charming buildings create wonderful reflections on the calm water.
Especially in autumn, the golden foliage, colorful facades, and peaceful riverside scenery make this a fantastic photography location. On cool mornings, a thin layer of mist can form over the water, adding an extra touch of atmosphere to the reflections.

Photography Tips
For this particular shot, I used a telephoto lens to isolate the colorful wooden house and compress the surrounding autumn foliage into the background. A focal length between 100 and 200mm works particularly well for creating this intimate composition.
Early morning is definitely the best time to visit, especially on a sunny day after a cool night. Low sunlight beautifully illuminates the houses and golden trees, while morning mist rising from the water adds depth.
Look for calm conditions to capture beautiful reflections, and try positioning the house in the upper half of your composition to give the reflection enough space.

Travel Information
Maarin Puisto is located within walking distance of Porvoo's historic Old Town, approximately 50 kilometers east of Helsinki. The park is easily accessible on foot and offers several interesting perspectives across the water towards the traditional wooden buildings.
The best time to photograph it is around sunrise, especially in September and October when autumn colors peak. Cool, clear nights followed by sunny mornings offer the best chances of atmospheric mist over the water.
Since the park is close to Porvoo's main attractions, it's an excellent location to combine with a morning photography walk through the Old Town and along the Porvoonjoki River.
