France Tree of the Cham des Bondons
The "Cham des Bondons" is a limestone plateau stretching southwest of Mont Lozère, located within the Cévennes National Park in the department of Lozère. With 154 menhirs, the Cham des Bondons is home to the second-largest concentration of megalithic monuments in Europe, after the Carnac alignments in Brittany. A "Bondon" is the name given to the 2 small hills in this plateau.
Photography Tips
You will see this tree once you face the biggest hill, you just need to turn to the north to see it. It's a wonderful lonely tree that makes a great silhouette for auroras when a strong solar geomagnetic storm hits. If no auroras, you can use it a subject for sunrise/sunset or with the tail of the Milky Way.
Travel Information
Getting to the Bondons is fairly easy as the place is marked on Google Maps. Follow the GPS pin for parking. Once parked, go to you left hand side and follow the dirt track road.
