Georgia Georgian Rainbow Mountains 1
I couldn't find the official name of this mountain range anywhere, but I saw pictures of it in many tour offers from Tbilisi called the Rainbow Mountains.
Rainbow Mountains in Georgia are located in a semi-desert area spanning Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions.
We took the pictures from two places, this post is about the 1st place.
If you don't want to risk the dirt road, but want to see some striped rock have a look at this spot:

Travel Information
Since we didn't want to go on a group tour, we thought we would find it somehow. Well, it wasn't that easy. We asked around in the nearest village, Udabno, but they could only say that it was somewhere near the Natlismtsemeli Monastery, but at least they confirmed that it was probably accessible with the car we rented (4WD). A well-marked, good-quality gravel-stone road led to the monastery and there was no sign of the striped rocks. We hoped that they would direct us at the monastery, but we didn't even get out of the car, because the monk sitting at the gate showed us to turn around and leave. (This was the only unfriendly place during our two-week Georgian trip). We had seen several forks on the road leading up to the monastery earlier, so we turned right at the last one and that was a very good idea. (If you don't go up the monastery you have to leave the monastery road to the left before it turns right and up to the monastery, so you go more or less straight on in the valley.) After about 2km of driving further in the valley the road turned slightly right up the hill and we saw the first rocks.
The quality of the dirt road after the road leading to the monastery was not too bad either, I think it can be done with any car in dry weather, although car rental companies usually prohibit unpaved roads for normal cars.
You can see the roads on Google map satelite view.
