David Gareja is a cave monastery complex located near the border with Azerbaijan. This ancient monastery complex was founded in the 6th century by one of the thirteen Assyrian Fathers, St. David Garejeli.

Travel Information
If you go from Tbilisi by car the shorter route via Rustavi includes a fairly long dirt road, which is why it takes the same amount of time, so it's better to choose the longer route via Udabno, also because this way you go past Lake Mlashe, which is usually a dried up white salt field at the end of summer, which can be a good photo subject.
