Georgia Mirveti Waterfall, Georgia

Mirveti Waterfall is a beautiful hidden waterfall surrounded by the dense subtropical forest of Adjara. Water cascades down a dark rock face into a small pool, while moss, vines, and lush vegetation surround the entire scene. Compared with some of the region’s larger waterfalls, Mirveti feels particularly intimate and secluded, making the short walk through the forest part of the experience. It is also much less crowded than other waterfalls along the main road!

A wide-angle lens works best here to capture the waterfall and the dense surrounding vegetation. Overcast or rainy conditions are actually ideal, providing soft light and emphasizing the deep greens of the forest. A polarizing filter helps reduce reflections on wet rocks and foliage. For silky water, bring a tripod and experiment with slower shutter speeds, but also capture a few faster exposures to retain texture and detail in the falling water. I didn't bring a tripod, but adding a person in front of the waterfall can also help show the scale of this unique location!

Mirveti Waterfall is near Mirveti village and pairs well with the nearby Mirveti Bridge. Residents offer parking near the start of the walking route for a small fee. It is a good idea to carry some Georgian cash, as card payment may not be available. From there, a relatively short walk leads through the forest to the waterfall. The trail and rocks can become slippery after rain, so shoes with good grip are recommended.
