Germany Krämerbrücke, Erfurt
Krämerbrücke is the German version of Ponte Vecchio: a bridge on which houses are built with small shops (Krämer = retailer).
This is one of my favorite perspectives of the famous Krämerbrücke in Erfurt's historic Old Town. Photographed from the Horngasse Bridge, the view combines the beautiful half-timbered houses of the Krämerbrücke, the church tower of Ägidienkirche, and the Gera River flowing beneath the bridge.
Especially during blue hour, this location becomes incredibly atmospheric. Illuminated windows and warm streetlights reflect beautifully in the water, while the deep blue sky contrasts beautifully with the historic architecture. It's a great spot to capture the charm of Erfurt in a single composition.

Photography Tips
Blue hour is definitely my favorite time to photograph this perspective. Arrive shortly after sunset, when the lights inside the buildings are already on, but the sky still has enough natural light.
A standard zoom lens works perfectly here. I recommend shooting vertically to include the Ägidienkirche tower, the half-timbered houses, and the reflections in the river. The river also creates a natural leading line towards the Krämerbrücke.
If the water is calm, you can capture beautiful reflections of the illuminated buildings. A tripod can help with longer exposures, especially later in the evening.

Travel Information
The viewpoint is located on the Horngasse Bridge, just a short walk from Erfurt's famous Krämerbrücke and Wenigemarkt. It's easy to reach on foot while exploring the historic Old Town.
Unlike some busier viewpoints around the Krämerbrücke, this perspective offers a slightly different composition, with the river in the foreground and the Ägidienkirche tower rising above the surrounding buildings.
I recommend combining this spot with a walk through the nearby streets and across the Krämerbrücke itself. Plenty of beautiful photo opportunities are just a few minutes away, especially around sunset and blue hour.
