The Church of St. Stephanus and St. Ulrich in Ehingen am Ries stands on a hill overlooking the Nördlinger Ries. The Nördlinger Ries is a huge meteorite crater with a completely flat floor, creating a striking contrast to the otherwise hilly landscape of northern Bavaria. From the church, you can overlook the entire crater, making it an excellent spot for photography.

Photography Tips

It is not very easy to include both the church and the Ries crater together in one shot. Around the church, there is a small road that can also be included in the composition.

Travel Information

The Nördlinger Ries region is well connected by well-developed federal roads. It is also rarely very touristy here. Photographers don’t need to worry about crowded roads or large groups of tourists. Parking is available directly at the church.
