Germany Königssee, Bavaria
Promoted as the cleanest lake in Germany, it is surrounded by sheer mountains up to 2700m high. It is similar to a fjord in that it was formed by glaciers in the last Ice Age. It is a beautiful part of Germany with other attractions such as the Eagle's Nest close by.
Photography Tips
Plan to spend some time here as a quick visit (like we did) will leave you a little let down. Perhaps a boat tour will provide views unavailable from the lake shore.

A large parking area is available just outside the village, which itself is quaint and oriented towards tourism.
