Germany Zeche Prosper-Haniel, Schacht Prosper 2
Shaft Prosper 2 was sunk in 1871 and began coal production in 1875. The shaft was equipped with a distinctive Malakow tower, which remains preserved today as an industrial monument. Prosper 2 served as a central production shaft for the Prosper II mine and reached a maximum depth of 813 meters. In 1877, a connection to Prosper 1 was established, improving operational efficiency. After its closure in 1987, the Malakow tower was preserved and placed under heritage protection. Prosper-Haniel, Germany's last active hard coal mine, closed on December 21, 2018.
