Germany Marienburg Castle (Drone)
Marienburg Castle is a former summer residence of the Kings of Hanover in Pattensen.
1857–1867: King George V of Hanover had the palace built in the Gothic Revival style as a gift for his wife, Queen Marie.
Summer residence & retreat: Originally intended as a summer and hunting lodge for the royal family.
1866 – Prussian annexation: After the Austro-Prussian War, the Kingdom of Hanover lost its independence; the Welf family went into exile in Austria.
Vacancy & preservation: The palace remained unoccupied for a long time and was later partly used as a museum, but it fell into increasing disrepair during the 20th century.
Current use: It has been open to the public since the 2000s; major restoration work is currently underway to preserve it as a cultural monument and tourist destination.
