Germany Glocksee
A Guelph feudal register from 1360 mentions a pasture called “dat Klocse.” Even back then, it was located in the floodplain of the Leine and Ihme rivers. The meadows were regularly flooded. Occasionally, a soft gurgling sound could be heard there. In the medieval dialect, this sound was called “klucken”; the area where it occurred was known as the “Klocke.” Over time, this evolved into the name Glocksee.
