Germany Winter Landscape
For me, the Belchen (1,414 m) is one of the most beautiful and photogenic mountains with panoramic views in the entire Black Forest. Since its summit is largely unwooded—unlike the Feldberg—it offers a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view. On a clear day (especially in fall and winter during temperature inversions), you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Swiss Alps, the Vosges Mountains, and the Rhine Valley from here.
The mountain offers fantastic photo opportunities in every season: from snow-covered fir trees in winter to mystical seas of fog in fall and colorful wildflower meadows in early summer. Since the summit area is a nature reserve, the landscape here is particularly unspoiled and rugged.

Photography Tips
• Wide-angle lens: Perfect for capturing the epic expanse and the foreground.
• Telephoto lens: Essential for zooming in on the Alpine range or the Belchen Chapel.
• Filters: Graduated neutral density (GND) filter for sunsets; polarizing filter to reduce haze.
• Tripod: A must for the blue hour. Note: It must be wind-stable, as it’s often extremely windy at the summit.
