This is one of the biggest and oldest amphitheatres. Build in the year 161. It can hold up to 5000 guests.

To get to the spot you have to pay an entrance fee for the Akropolis. It's totally worth it!

Photography Tips

You should bring a wide-angle lens.
Turn your aperture to 8 and your ISO low, to 100, to get a clean sharp shop. In bad light conditions, you are going to need a tripod to compensate for the long exposure times.

Travel Information

Parking is a problem, so just use public transport to the bus station Aphetēria just some minutes away. Or go there by metro to the station Acropolis.

Indubitably one of the photo highlights of any visit to the Acropolis!

The coordinates are tricky as google maps will only give you the main stone path. One must ask at the side entries for the foot path to the back of the Irodeion
