Greenland Hekla Havn, Scoresbysund

Hekla Havn is a remote anchorage in Scoresbysund, surrounded by rugged mountains and vast Arctic wilderness. The small shelter standing here was originally built as a trapper’s hut, offering protection from the harsh Greenlandic weather. Today, it feels like a quiet reminder of the people who once lived and worked in these remote landscapes — simple, isolated and completely exposed to nature.

Scoresbysund is one of the most remote places you can reach in Greenland. There are no roads or infrastructure here. The area is explored by sailing boat, smaller expedition vessel, kayak or multi-day guided kayak trips, with August to roughly mid-September being the best window to experience it. Just around 500 people coming per year.
