Iceland Hallgrímskirkja, Reykjavik
The Hallgrimskirkja is a beautiful and pretty modern church in the west of Reykjavic in Iceland. It's placed on a hill, so it's pretty easy to find.
If you want to have a view over the city you can use the elevator inside the church, which costs about 5€. The view is decent, but probably not worth it to go up there. At least you can get photos in every direction without windows in front of the view or too small grids for bigger lenses.

Photography Tips
Use the monument as a part of your photos or use the symmetry of the floor and the church. If you don't have a fullframe camera with a pretty low focal length you can shoot multiple horizontal images and stitch them together afterwards to get the whole church into one photo.
Because this is a wide shot of an open space, it's unlikely you'll ever see a moment with no people in the shot. Try taking several identical exposures on a tripod, paying attention to when people move so that you get at least one exposure with each area of the frame clear of people, then use photoshop layers to clone out the people.
