There are two nearby bridges on the ring road, and between them (very close to the west bridge) is a small 4x4 road (cars can make it slowly) leading north. You can follow that and park south of the lagoon, hiking around the west side.

Photography Tips

Be careful of falling ice. Be careful of silt slush, as it is sort of the glacial equivalent of quicksand and you can break through ice into it... so only stand on the firm ground around this area.

This is near the black diamond beach and Jökullarlson Lagoon.
