Iceland Hengifoss Waterfall

After the steep ascent you get rewarded with a beautiful view towards Hengifoss waterfall in East Iceland. The further, now flat path was closed due to the danger of falling rocks.

Photography Tips

If you want a closer photo, a tele-lens is recommended because the path towards the waterfall might be closed and getting nearby is therefore not possible and forbidden.

Travel Information

Parking spaces are usually free down the street. During our visit during the Covid-19 restrictions, we saw only few tourists.

That's such a beautiful scene and I really like that you need to climb up there. Do you know the name of the waterfall? Because that would be much more helpful as a title than the current very generic one nobody would search for. Did you pass Litlanessfoss for this climb by the way?

Hello Manuel, thank you for your compliment. That's how I understood it ;-) Thank you for mentioning the "missing" information. It is about the "Hengifoss", I only noted this in the keywords, not in the actual text. When going up to "Hengifoss" you normally (unless you have climbing equipment ;-)))) ) pass the waterfall "Litlanessfoss". OK? Greetings Rodolphe

Awesome, I just updated the title + text a bit just to make it easier to find and understand what the spot is about. I wish I knew about it when I was there in 2015... Would have loved a nice hike in the eastern part of Iceland.
