The colorful river is one of the best in the South of Iceland. The color comes from sediment, which does not mix with the rest of the river leading into the ocean.

Photography Tips

I used my drone to capture the best angles of the river. Come here during the day when it's brighter and easier to capture the color. You might want to use an ND and polarization filter to ensure colors and fewer reflections in your final image.

Travel Information

You can park your car along the gravel road. Make sure not to block the road and any other traffic coming by. You could walk from here, closer to the location, but it's hard to see any river color from ground level. When traveling in Iceland, it is always nice to check www.safetravel.is for travel information.
