Viti, meaning "Hell", in Krafla is an explosion crater. The crater was formed during a massive volcanic eruption at the start of the famous Mývatn Fires in 1724.

Oh nice, I wanted to share this spot too. When I was there the wind was so crazy that I couldn't stand still and it was extremely hard to get a good photo. I really have to take a look at my results and add them to this spot, thanks for adding this one dear Daniel!
