Iceland Eastrahorn
Eystrahorn, also known as Austurhorn or Hvalnesfjall, is a striking mountain located on the southeastern coast of Iceland, specifically on the Hvalnes Peninsula. It lies approximately 25 kilometers east of the town of Höfn and about 8 kilometers off the Ring Road (Route 1). The mountain is part of the Krossanesfjall range, and its jagged peaks rise dramatically from the coastline, offering breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Ocean and nearby black sand beaches.
Eystrahorn is a favorite among photographers and nature lovers due to its dramatic landscape, rich birdlife, and relative seclusion compared to more tourist-heavy spots like Vestrahorn.

Photography Tips
Best Times to Shoot
Golden Hour: Early morning or late evening light adds warmth and contrast to the rugged landscape.
Blue Hour: Just before sunrise or after sunset, the soft light enhances the mystical feel of the mountain.
Winter: Snow-capped peaks and low sun angles create dramatic shadows and textures.
Composition Tips
Foreground interest: Use rocks, black sand, or reflections in puddles to lead the eye toward the mountain.
Rule of thirds: Position Eystrahorn off-center to balance the composition with sky or sea.
Reflections: After rain, puddles or the nearby lagoon can mirror the mountain beautifully.
Include the Hvalnes lighthouse for scale and color contrast.
