The area around the southern part of the Westfjords is quite different to most of the rest of the island. Stunning red and orange sand beaches with different sediments along with river outflows create an image, which nowhere else on the island can be found.

Search for the changing outflows which form lines leading towards the ocean. Put them into the center of your frame.

Travel Information

The Westfjords region is generally a very remote place. Getting there is already part of the adventure. It’s typically accessed via gravel roads from towns like Patreksfjörður or Bíldudalur, and a 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended, even in summer, due to steep, unpaved sections and changing road conditions.
