Iceland Hallgrimskirkja church from háteigsvegur street, Reykjavik
From Háteigsvegur, you get a different perspective of Hallgrímskirkja, with the iconic church rising above Reykjavík’s rooftops. This spot is particularly beautiful around sunset in late spring and towards the end of summer, when the low evening sun creates warm light and soft shadows around the city.
Photography Tips
Expose slightly darker to create a more dramatic silhouette of Hallgrímskirkja against the evening sky. This also helps keep distracting foreground elements less visible, allowing the church to stand out as the main subject. For the best results, shoot during sunset when the sky adds warm colours and beautiful contrast to the scene.
