The small peninsula, Dyrhólaey is located on the south coast of Iceland, not far from the village Vík.
In front of the peninsula, there is a gigantic black arch of lava standing in the sea, which gave the peninsula its name (meaning: the hill-island with the door-hole).

Travel Information

The photo is taken from the lava beach east of Cap Dyrhólaey. Starting at Route 218, you can get to the beach on foot, but depending on the conditions of the ground it might not be possible at any time of the year.
