Italy Matera from Chiesa di Sant'Agostino

Some of the most iconic shots of Matera’s Sassi are from this location. You might recognise some of it from a recent James Bond movie.

There is a rail and viewing point beside the car park but you might get better shots if you go down the steps on the left, toward the door of the church. There are also great shots to be had from the right of the car park.

There are several well-rated restaurants nearby; close enough so you can abandon your family between courses to try a few evening shots before the next course arrives.

Driving is possible but the joy of this part of town is the walking around and exploring
