This is a famous old castle near Andria, in Puglia, Italy. It was built in the 13th century by Frederick II. The castle has a special octagonal shape with eight towers. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Photography Tips

For a good photo, take the castle from the front to show its special shape. You can also walk around it and take photos from different sides. The countryside around the castle is very open, so you can include the landscape in your photos. Morning or late afternoon is better for softer light.

Travel Information

From Andria, take the SS 170 towards Castel del Monte. The castle is around 20 km from Andria. Follow the signs for Castel del Monte and park in the parking area near the castle. As of 2026, it's 5€ for the parking and 2€ to take the shuttle (you can also walk to the castle). To visit inside the castle, you need to pay 10€.
