Surrounded by cedar forests and beautiful gardens, Meiji Jingu has an austere grandeur that serves as the perfect escape from the crowds as well as an intriguing history of welcoming the West.The huge surrounding forest was created in memory of the emperor and empress for their souls to dwell in and was planted entirely by hand.

Come early! During the day it is super crowded. In generell I would use a 24-70mm range here.

Travel Information

From Harajuku station it is 15-20 minute walk.

In generell the best travel option in Tokyo is the metro system. Nearly every 3-4 minutes the trains are coming just in time. Book your Suica card for the payment to your wallet. It is the most effective way to pay at the gates to the trains.
