St. Paul’s Bay is a wide coastal area in northern Malta with St. Paul’s Islands located just offshore. From above, the bay opens up nicely and shows the contrast between calm water, coastline and the islands. The area works especially well for simple, graphic aerial compositions.

Photography Tips

Sunrise works best to avoid traffic on the water. Including boats in the frame makes the image much more interesting, especially when they are anchored and evenly spaced. Fly slightly higher to use the boats as visual anchors and keep the composition clean. Avoid overcomplicating the shot – symmetry and clear structure work best here.

Travel Information

Parking is possible along the coastal roads around St. Paul’s Bay. Access to the shoreline is easy and only requires a short walk. Arrive early to be ready for takeoff at first light. Always check local drone regulations before flying.
