Namibia Sesriem Canyon
The Sesriem Canyon on the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park is the eponym for the settlement next door. The Tsauchab has washed out a roughly 30 m deep, approximately one kilometer-long canyon made of a conglomeration of sand, clay and pebbles. Early settlers needed six joined ox-belts (see Reims: Afrikaans for six rawhide thongs) to scoop water from the canyon, hence the name.
Travel Information
Walking in the canyon I had the impression of beeing in a sauna, very warm and humid.
