Sesriem Canyon, located near the entrance of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, is a stunning geological feature carved by the Tsauchab River over millions of years. This narrow, 30-meter-deep canyon stretches about a kilometer long and offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the region's geological history. With its layered rock walls and shaded, the canyon provides a contrast to the surrounding desert landscape. You can explore the canyon on foot, discovering natural pools that hold water even during the dry season, making it a vital water source for wildlife and early settlers.

Photography Tips

I used a 28-70mm lens to get this photo and asked a friend to walk towards the light for a sense of scale. The late afternoon light was perfect for creating this incredible atmosphere and helping you play with light and shadows!
