Netherlands Zaanse Schans Reflection Classic
Zaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of Zaandam, near Zaandijk, Netherlands. It is best known for its collection of historic windmills and wooden houses that were relocated here from the wider region north of Amsterdam for preservation.
Photography Tips
Sunset is a great time to visit, especially in late spring / early summer. Go on a day when there are a small smattering of clouds in the sky to get the nice reflection as shown in this image. Golden hour is best. Take a tripod and use a wide angle lens for the panoramic view.
Travel Information
Easily accessible from Amsterdam Central Station by a frequent commuter train journey that takes 15 minutes. From Zaanse Schans train station, this particular spot is about another 15 minute walk away. A bus service which drops you off right outside the entrance to Zaanse Schans is also available.
