New Caledonia Quajo Cave
The Quajo Cave is a beautiful cave accessible only by crossing a pool. The water is clear and cold, but the stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave are stunning.
Photography Tips
Bring the strict minimum and waterproof gear (like a GoPro) as you need to swim to access the cave. Take advantage of the headlamps light to illuminate the cave.
Travel Information
Lifou is an island part of the Loyalty islands of New Caledonia : reachable by boat or plane. Check on New Caledonia tourism board website for your preferred mean of transportation.
To access the cave you need to contact the Quanono tribe, located in Wé (go to the parking spot). You need to check with them when they have availability to take you to the cave and pay the fee. From the parking, there is a short walk in the forest ; bring long sleeves as there are fire ants on the way.
Bring swimsuit, headlamp and baskets to wander in the cave. This activity requires to know how to swim and no fear of darkness. It is very safe to go with the guide, but without you would get lost.
