New Caledonia Ruins of Lifou

Situated next to a temple, this construction has to represent the rests of the previous temple. I was not able to find any explanations on this matter online or with locals. It was probably built by the missionaries when they discovered this island.

Come at golden hour to get soft light on the ruins. You can widen your frame and include the new temple.

Lifou is an island part of the Loyalty islands of New Caledonia : reachable by boat or plane. Check on New Caledonia tourism board website for your preferred mean of transportation.
To get to the spot, it's better to rent a car. You can park close to the ruins behind the temple. You can pair this visit with the Kiki Beach, a beautiful secluded white sand beach accessible after hiking.
