New Zealand 12 Mile Beach

North of Greymouth on the west coast of New Zealand you will find a splendid view of the Motukiekie Rocks from 12 mile beach. It features the classic ocean view along this coastline.

Photography Tips

Plan to arrive late afternoon when the sun will be on your left shoulder and the rocks front lit. A polarizer filter will maximize the skies. In the morning it is very misty and poorly lit. If you are lucky you can then go north a short distance and catch a sunset on the Rocks.

Travel Information

Travel north from Greymouth along Highway 6. Look for the 10 mile creek around a sharp bend; it is well sign-posted. On the left hand side you will notice a pull out with parking. There is NO sign. This is the site. If you reach 13 mile creek you have gone too far.
