Punakaiki is well known for their pancake rocks, a limestone rock formation next to the ocean. Here are a lot of tourists. So be prepared for this. The blow holes next to them are only active around mid to high tide and at the best when the swell is up.

Save your gear and take care on the out coming water from the holes.

We searched a while for new perspectives here and found this one. The hole is surrounded by the cliffs and the person gives you a nice scale. Especially after sunset it is less crowded and you can be more creative.

Parking slots are available on the street. The spot is easy to find and you reach the coastline in a fast way with less than 10 minutes.
