New Zealand Area around Mount Brown Hut, Lake Kaniere

Mount Brown Hut near Lake Kaniere offfers a beautiful 360 panorama to the nearby green mountain range, the lakeside and all the way to the sea. For me it is special cause it isn't a usual well known hiking trail and you will meet just a very few people.

All 8 uploaded pictures are taken in a radius of around 20 meters around this spot. It is crazy how diverse you can find different perspectives, if you play with your lenses, foreground and directions.

A hiking trip to the nearby Mount Brown Hut is around 8,9 km out-and-back with 983 meter of elevation. It is a very challenging hike and requires a really good level of fitness. The background for this assessment is the trail itself. Sometimes it is difficult to find the right way. Small marker on the trees can help you here. At some points in the bush line it is very step and slippery. After the bush line you will enter a very muddy ground.

Mount Brown Hut is a backcountry hut. All bookings are first-come first-served. There is no reservation possibility. So please take your tent and sleeping gear with you, if you definitely want to stay up in the mountains and to be safe in case the hut is full.
