Norway Storwartz
The now closed Storwartz copper mine was one of Røros Copper Works' most important mining areas, located northeast of Røros. Nine mines were operating here between 1645 and 1972. The abandoned mine buildings and the remains of the underground mining tunnels are part of the Unesco World Heritage area of Røros.
Photography Tips
Best Time to Photograph:
Golden hour: As with most outdoor photography, the "golden hour" offer soft, warm light that can create dramatic shadows and highlight the textures of the old buildings and landscape.
Overcast days: A cloudy day can act like a giant softbox, providing even light that is great for capturing details without harsh shadows.
Winter: Snow-covered landscapes can create a beautiful contrast with the dark, weathered wood of the mine buildings.
The climate can be rough, and the terrain is uneven. Wear sturdy shoes and warm, windproof clothing.
This is a historical and cultural site. "Take only photos, leave only footprints." Do not disturb or remove any artifacts.
