Portugal Rossio Fountain, Lisbon

Rossio is the popular name of the King Pedro IV Square in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. It is located in the Pombaline district of Lisbon and has been one of its main squares since the Middle Ages. The Mermaid Fountain is a popular attraction within the square.

To photograph the Rossio Fountain in Lisbon, the best times are during the golden hour (early morning or late afternoon) or blue hour (just before sunrise or after sunset) for soft lighting and vibrant colors. Avoid midday sun to prevent harsh shadows and highlights.

For composition, frame the fountain with the surrounding architecture or use its reflection in the water for added depth. A wide-angle lens works well to capture both the fountain and the square. Focus on details like sculptures or water streams for close-up shots.

Use f/8 to f/11 for sharp focus, and a slower shutter speed (around 1/30s) to capture water movement. Keep the ISO low (100-400) for clarity, and consider a polarizing filter to reduce water reflections.

Experiment with different angles: shoot from eye level, a low angle for reflections, or a high angle to capture the entire fountain. Include people for scale or motion. In post-processing, adjust contrast and soften long exposure shots of the water for a dreamy effect.
