South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands Northern Beach, St Andrew´s Bay
St. Andrews Bay is one of the most spectacular wildlife sites in South Georgia Island, known for its enormous king penguin colony and dramatic glacier-backed beaches. It is home to hundreds of thousands of breeding king penguins, along with elephant seals and seabirds, creating one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in the Southern Ocean.
The beginning of the landing, if you land all the way at the end of the beach, withholds reflections due to the rivers and very curious first little fellas.

Photography Tips
Don´t rush in taking shots of every penguin. Start slow, soak in the landscape and try to focus on the whole scene first. Fast shutter speeds are recommended due to the moving animals.
Travel Information
St. Andrews Bay is located on the remote island of South Georgia Island and can only be visited as part of an organized expedition cruise, as there are no airports or independent travel options. The best travel window is the austral summer (roughly November to March), when sea conditions are more navigable and wildlife is at its peak. From Ushuaia, this voyage to reach South Georgia takes approximately 3 full days.
