Important Information: Since 2025, the minimum distance between ships and polar bears has been set at 500 meters, making such close, detailed shots no longer possible. The distance may even need to be greater if the polar bear notices the ship.

This tiny island is the northernmost island of Svalbard with dark rocks and usually, at least one bear coming from the pack ice north.

Photography Tips

Telephoto and stabilizer are needed as being on a small boat. 200mm is enough sometimes but 400mm is best... higher will not work handheld on a zodiac.
