The Riddarholmskyrkan Tower in Stockholm is a prominent feature of the Riddarholmen Church, one of the city's oldest buildings, dating back to the late 13th century. Originally part of a Franciscan monastery, the church became a royal burial site after the Protestant Reformation. Its distinctive cast-iron spire, designed in the 19th century, replaced an earlier wooden structure destroyed by lightning in 1835. This neo-Gothic spire is notable for its intricate design and has become a symbol of Stockholm's skyline.

Photography Tips

Photographing the Riddarholmskyrkan Tower from Riddarhuset offers a great view, especially in soft morning or evening light. Use a wide-angle lens to capture the tower and surrounding architecture, and try a lower angle to emphasize the tower’s height. Include reflections from nearby water for added depth, and frame your shot with trees or buildings for context. A tripod helps if you're shooting during low light or want a long exposure.

Travel Information

To reach Riddarhuset in Stockholm, take the metro to Gamla Stan station and walk about 6 minutes, or use bus lines 3 or 53 to Riddarhustorget, which is right nearby. It’s also a 10-minute walk from Stockholm Central Station.
