Tanzania Shiro la Mungu Crater
Shimo La Mungo, is a steep-sided mini volcanic crater, about 300m deep and 1km wide. The road that takes you from Karatu to Lake Natron, through the Gregory Rift Valley, is what locals call “God’s Hole” or Shimo La Mungu in KiSwahili. This one is a prominent stop for safari jeeps making their way towards the red sands of Lake Natron and its colony of Flamingos.
Photography Tips
The crater is huge. For a picture like this you need to have a wide angle lens with you. Otherwise you can use the lowest mm that you have with you and do multiple pictures for a panorama via your editing tools like lightroom or photoshop.
