Tanzania Crater Cone Mt. Meru
Hidden within Mount Meru’s vast volcanic caldera, the Ash Cone is a striking, pyramid-shaped formation of dark volcanic ash and cinders. Rising around 200 metres above the crater floor, it creates a dramatic centrepiece in one of Tanzania’s most impressive volcanic landscapes.

Photography Tips
When flying a drone in Tanzania, you need to acquire a local agency to obtain a license / permit to actually fly. Sometimes, they provide you a drone.
When the sun is quite strong, try to edge it softly instead of getting weird flares into the frame.
Try different angles to see if you can include the summit cone or focus on adventure shots with the subjects.

Travel Information
The climb follows the Momella Route and usually takes 3–4 days, staying in mountain huts along the way. Summit day starts around midnight, following a steep and exposed crater ridge to Socialist Peak for sunrise.
An armed park ranger is required throughout the trek because of wildlife on the lower slopes.
