Kinnell Stone Circle is a prehistoric stone circle situated at the west end of Loch Tay, located on the South bank of the river Dochart in a private grazing field. It is a pleasant walk from the Killin Hotel parking lot.
The circle is thought to date from the 2nd or 3rd Millennium BC. The stone circle stands in private actively used farm land. There may be livestock within the fields and appropriate respect should be adhered to when visiting the area.

Photography Tips

I have discovered that the subject can lose its "dramatic" appeal when photographed from too far away.

Travel Information

I suggest that after breakfast, lunch, or tea at the Killin Hotel, leave your car there and walk to the stone circle via Lyon Road to Ballechroisk Terrace, but look for steps to road running parallel to Ballechroisk Terrace and continue walking along the that road, past the Dochart Viaduct and a bridge over the River Dochart. Where the road intersects with a private drive, turn left on the drive and walk toward Kinnell Farm, through the entrance gates. You should be able to see the gate and a parking area. Stones are visible from there.
