This shot was taken on the famous Magdalene Bridge in Cambridge looking towards the Willow tree and one of many campuses around the city centre.

Take a decent zoom lens. I use the 24-105mm Sony g lens mostly. A 150 mm would be even better and a wide angle lens too.

Try to avoid tripods. Composition is key. Try to tell a story. I prefer to take my bike when shooting. An equipped mountain bike locally and internationally. I find it’s easier to travel to my destinations and skip onto the next one if I’m bored or feel the location I’m in isn’t working.

Plan your trip wisely. There’s many photos online depicting Cambridge, however most of these locations are off limits to the general public, therefore look around, ask questions, email, call, etc. Bikes aren’t allowed in some places neither.

Tourist season is pretty much every season so expect a lot of tourists. Keep your kit always in eye view. Cambridge does have pickpockets.

I travelled to via train from Norwich to Cambridge then took the short journey by bike from the station to Magdalene Bridge. Pick a good day. Leave early.
