This viewpoint on Battery Hill, just below McCaig’s Tower, offers one of the most iconic elevated perspectives over Oban. From here you get a sweeping panorama of Oban Bay, Kerrera Island, and the rugged coastal landscape that defines this part of Scotland. The mix of colourful harbour buildings, ferries coming and going, and constantly shifting weather creates an ever‑changing scene that works beautifully in photographs.

The viewpoint is only a short walk from Oban’s town centre. Follow the paths leading up toward McCaig’s Tower, then continue a few metres down Battery Hill to reach the open viewpoint.
There is limited space but enough room for a tripod; just be mindful of residents and occasional cars. No facilities are on site, but cafés and shops are close by in the town below.
