Travel Information

Trailhead is @ Mosquito flats 10,000 feet elevation accessible by paved road. Above Rock Creek Lake just south of the city of Mammoth Lakes in California. This area is part of a stretch of Highway 395 in California between the town of Lone Pine up to Bodie, which I find very dramatic and undervisited by most tourists.

Hi Andrew, just wondering.. How long a lens did you use? is there a best time in the year to visit?

I used a point and shoot Panasonic LUMIX camera. Nothing fancy.

Ai Lin, Sorry I didn't answer your second question. I think September to early October is best. Weather is just perfect and afternoon thunderstorms which are rampant in July and August is rare. If you are in the area make sure to check out the Alabama hills near Lone Pine and Bodie ghost town!!
