The Peoples Gas Education Pavilion is a favourite spot for photographers in Lincoln Park. Designed by Chicago architect Jeanne Gang (the same architect who's responsible for the beautiful Aqua building), this pavilion faces South Pond and the Hancock building. This makes it perfect for both landscapes and abstract shots!

Photography Tips

After you take the obvious landscape with the pavilion framing South Pond and the Hancock, get creative and take some abstract shots of the architecture. There are lots of opportunities for incorporating symmetry and leading lines into your compositions. Sunrise provides very nice golden light here, but my favourite time of day to shoot is at night (the pavilion lights up at night).

Travel Information

There's lots of parking in Lincoln Park, but if you get there during the day it can be difficult to find an open spot. Parking on the streets is available, but not always easy to find. There aren't too many nearby trains stops, so you'll probably have to walk ways or take a cab/Uber. the park is pretty beautiful, though, so the walk won't be dull. You're also very close to North Ave Beach, which is gorgeous for cityscape shots with reflections of the cityscape in Lake Michigan, so consider heading there once you're done at the pavilion.
